Leave a comment » Supporting Saline businessesFor a thriving local economy.
Any reader who has followed my blog for any time knows that I believe in supporting Saline businesses. (Original article written by Vance Shutes). While we're each only one person, working together we can do a lot to help our neighbors who own businesses in town. Today let's look at just one way you can help. You may already have heard about the 3/50 project. It began about a year ago, in March 2009, and has grown since then. The basic premise is to support local businesses. Their opening line says a lot: "What three independently owned businesses would you miss if they disappeared? Stop in. Say hello. Pick up something that brings a smile. Your purchases are what keeps those businesses around." "Pick three. Spend 50. Save your local economy." - another of the powerful ideas presented by the 3/50 project. If you're wondering about what local independent businesses to support, you can take your pick from the businesses listed at Be Saline, which I wrote about yesterday.
If you're wondering how much impact this can have, consider the final number listed at the 3/50 project site: 1. The number of people it takes to start the trend...you. If each of us does our part in supporting Saline businesses, we'll all be the winners!
